We asked knitting designer Meiju Knits, also known as Meiju Kallio, which patterns are her favourites in the new Rakkaat kuviot & Erik Bruun magazine. The top three includes knits that even a beginner will enjoy.
Beloved Icon
"My absolute favourite is the cover knit, the Norppa (Saimaa Ringed Seal) sweater. The smiling Norppa was a classic the moment it was created, and Mia Sumell has done an exceptionally good job designing the knit based on the illustration. The sweater is knitted from a rather thick yarn, so it’s finished surprisingly quickly, and the two-colour fair isle knitting is not too challenging even for a beginner."
The Norppa sweater is knitted bottom-up with raglan sleeves. Short rows are knitted at the back of the neck for an improved fit.
The pattern for the Norppa sweater was published in the Rakkaat kuviot & Erik Bruun knitting magazine, inspired by Erik Bruun's iconic posters.

Sunshine
"The Aurinko (Sun) cardigan charms with its graphic design. The colours chosen for the knit are perfect, and the surface pattern repeated on the body gives the knit a fun look. The cardigan's style is classic, with a round yoke and a straight body. It suits all body types."
The yoked cardigan is knitted top-down in flat knitting. Fair isle adorns the yoke, and a textured stitch pattern the lower body.
The pattern for the Aurinko (Sun) knit was published in the Rakkaat kuvion & Erik Bruun knitting magazine, inspired by Erik Bruun's iconic posters.
