Downloadable pattern: Neliraita bag (designer Veera Jussila)
The four-striped bag is made by tufting a striped pattern onto fabric and then sewing the fabrics into a bag.
The instructions for the Four-Stripe Bag have been published in the Rakkaat kuviot & Vuokko magazine, where Vuokko's stunning timeless patterns served as inspiration.
Pattern information:
Size:
Diameter approx. 20 cm.
Materials:
Yarn: Leftover yarns (fingering weight yarns can be tufted double, and DK and thicker yarns single) in 4 different colours, approx. 30 g of each
Note! The yarn consumption is affected by the length of the needle used in the work, i.e. how long the tuft is. In the sample work, the yarns were tufted with a medium-long and long needle length
Tufting needle: Lavor 4 mm (also suitable for tufting needles 3–10 mm)
Other materials:
- Round embroidery hoop 19 cm and old linen fabric OR Zweigart Monks
Cloth fine craft fabric 0.3 m - Old jeans or other suitable recycled fabric for the bag (inner lining fabric can be thinner)
- 25 cm zipper
- 0.5 m cotton fabric for lining
- 0.5 m batting
- Soft pencil or other marking pen, latex or white glue 0.2 l, scissors, 2 D-rings
Note! For a larger tufting needle, a more loosely woven Zweigart Monks Cloth tufting fabric is also suitable. If you tuft with a 5 mm or larger tufting needle, you can tuft with double yarn. However, consider this as a larger yarn consumption.
